The history of croquet – the game
Croquet is a beautiful, historic lawn game with a long tradition. Originally developed in the 16th and 17th centuries from the French game “Paille-Maille,” it evolved into a quintessential social sport in Victorian England during the 19th century. It was even an official discipline at the 19th-century Olympic Games!
